TL;DR

Senior AI Engineer (Legaltech): Developing and optimizing core AI-driven product features for a legal workspace platform with an accent on LLM integration, RAG systems, and agent orchestration. Focus on building scalable backend systems, implementing robust evaluation pipelines, and ensuring high security and performance for legal professionals across Europe.

Location: Must be based in or able to work from Mechelen, Belgium (Hybrid: 2 days/week in office)

What you will do

  • Design and maintain end-to-end AI features using LLM APIs.
  • Develop chat-based UX flows and complex backend AI integrations.
  • Build and optimize RAG systems, including document parsing and retrieval pipelines.
  • Develop scalable backend systems using FastAPI and Python.
  • Design agent orchestration systems for multi-step legal workflows.
  • Build infrastructure for AI evaluations, benchmarking, and continuous monitoring.

Requirements

  • 4-5+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Deep experience integrating LLMs via APIs.
  • Proficiency in Python and FastAPI.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Must be able to work in a hybrid model in Mechelen, Belgium.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering and security best practices.

Nice to have

  • Experience with TypeScript and frontend development.
  • Fluency in German.
  • Experience with modern AI developer tools like Cursor or Claude Code.
