Staff Software Engineer (Java or Scala)

Staff Software Engineer (Java or Scala): Build and maintain large-scale replication systems on top of the hirify.global Data Platform stack with an accent on cloud-based, low RPO/RTO replication architectures and production reliability. Focus on designing distributed replication across HDFS, Ozone, Hive, HBase, Iceberg, Atlas, and Ranger while mentoring engineers and improving performance for near real-time workloads.

What you will do

• Build and maintain large-scale replication systems on the hirify.global Data Platform stack
• Own production operations for the replication products
• Design cloud-based replication architectures with low RPO and RTO in a distributed engineering environment
• Support replication across HDFS, Ozone, Hive, HBase, Iceberg, Atlas, and Ranger
• Mentor junior engineers and provide actionable feedback
• Collaborate with product management and occasionally with field engineers on roadmap and early access features

Requirements

• Strong backend engineering skills in Java or Scala (or Kotlin)
• 4–6 years of experience with a Master’s in Computer Science or related field, or 6+ years with a Bachelor’s, or 6–8 years of relevant experience
• Ability to read large codebases and write clean, succinct code
• Experience with system software design and development
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems design and development (replication, consistency, high availability)
• No immigration sponsorship

Nice to have

• Understanding of computer architecture, storage, network, and IO subsystems
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Test automation experience with basic Python knowledge
• Performance tuning experience (identifying bottlenecks and implementing optimizations)
• Systems/DevOps experience
