Senior Software Engineer

TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Distributed Systems): Develop and support highly scalable Catalog services for hirify.global Data Platform across hybrid cloud environments with an accent on interoperability between distributed computation and storage. What you will do

• Develop and support a highly scalable Catalog service based on the Apache Iceberg REST specification for CDP across hybrid cloud environments.
• Design and build a Unified Catalog service that provides a single endpoint for segregated datasets.
• Contribute to Apache open-source projects by building tools used for large-scale unstructured data.
• Work daily with Apache Iceberg, Spark, Impala, and Hive to deliver core platform capabilities.
• Support customer deployments and escalations, and improve product stability.

Requirements

• 5+ years with a Bachelor’s (or 3+ years with a Master’s) and 3+ years building scalable, high-performance large-scale systems.
• Proven expertise in Java (preferred) or other OOP languages, with strong data structures, algorithms, and clean coding practices.
• Solid understanding of public cloud concepts (AWS/Azure/GCP), including cloud storage integration and access-control APIs.
• Familiarity with authentication and authorization mechanisms for public cloud deployments.
• Strong debugging skills in Java, including analyzing logs, thread dumps, and heap dumps.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with attention to detail and a focus on software quality.
