What you will do

  • Design, install, and maintain database system software while implementing robust security measures.
  • Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, and collaborate with development teams to tune and optimize queries.
  • Develop and test comprehensive backup and recovery policies to ensure data integrity.
  • Provide technical leadership for database deployments and architectural planning.
  • Ensure 24/7 availability of production environments, including participation in an on-call rotation.
  • Document database policies, standards, and procedures to improve internal operations.

Requirements

  • Must be based in the United Kingdom.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in database administration with a focus on MS SQL Server 2016-2022.
  • 3-5 years of experience with MySQL, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Azure PaaS SQL, query tuning, and performance optimization.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell or Python scripting for automation.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Linux server administration.
  • Experience maintaining mission-critical applications in a SaaS environment.
  • Experience with Windows Server administration.
