Due Diligence Practitioner (Sub-Saharan Africa): Conducting in-depth research and writing intelligence reports on companies and individuals with an accent on business, political, and regulatory risk environments in sub-Saharan Africa. Focus on delivering critical insights for compliance, deal advisory, and investigative support to sophisticated global clients.

Location: Must be based in Cape Town, South Africa (Hybrid: 2 days/week in office). Candidates must have permission to work in South Africa.

What you will do

• Research and write intelligence reports for due diligence and investigatory purposes.
• Provide subject matter expertise on business, political, and regulatory risks in sub-Saharan Africa.
• Conduct research in English, French, Portuguese, and other relevant languages.
• Present findings to managers and clients.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of journalists, economists, and analysts.

Requirements

• Must have permission to work in South Africa.
• Bachelor’s degree in economics, international relations, law, finance, political science, or equivalent experience.
• Professional working proficiency in English.
• Demonstrable experience in research, writing, and project planning.
• Strong interest in sub-Saharan Africa business and political affairs.
• Ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Nice to have

• Working proficiency in French or Portuguese.
• Experience with human source intelligence, interviews, or field work.
• Several years of commercial experience in corporate intelligence, law, finance, or investigative journalism.
