Mechanical Designer (Defence): Executing engineering changes and developing bespoke assemblies for combat systems on Hobart Class Destroyers and Hunter Class Frigates with an accent on technical design reviews, structural simulation, and system compliance. Focus on designing complex mission-critical hardware, integrating COTS subassemblies, and supporting production milestones within a multidisciplinary team.
Location: Must be based in Adelaide or Melbourne, Australia. Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance (NV1).

What you will do
- Execute mechanical design activities including cable schedules and system drawings.
- Perform technical reviews of design drawings and evaluate product maturity.
- Ensure structural and vibrational simulations meet prescribed standards using Finite Element Analysis.
- Liaise with stakeholders to deliver design assurance and holistic system compliance.
- Provide design support to the production team during manufacturing phases.
- Create and maintain assembly drawings and component part lists.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in mechanical engineering.
- Must be an Australian citizen eligible for NV1 Defence Security Clearance.
- Experience in designing complex mission-critical mechanical systems and hardware.
- Understanding of CM and Quality requirements (ISO 9001).
- Proficiency with ERP/PLM systems (IFS or Windchill preferred).
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of hardware discipline trends and best practices.
- Experience with Configuration Management principles.
- Eligibility for CPEng, RPEQ, or RPEng Vic registration.
