TL;DR

Magento Backend Developer (PHP/Magento): Building and customizing customer engagement platforms for energy efficiency and clean energy solutions with an accent on custom module development and API integrations. Location: Remote (Must be based in the US)

Salary: $65,000 - $110,000

What you will do

  • Architect and develop custom Magento modules, plugins, and extensions following best practices.
  • Build and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs for front-end and third-party integrations.
  • Design and optimize MariaDB schemas, queries, and indexing for high-traffic eCommerce workloads.
  • Manage application deployments on Linux servers running Nginx within Nexcess managed hosting.
  • Conduct code reviews, produce technical estimates, and proactively manage scope risks.
  • Collaborate with front-end developers, QA, and business stakeholders in an Agile environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend development experience, with 3+ years specifically in Magento 2 (Adobe Commerce).
  • Proficiency in PHP 8.x and the Magento 2 module development framework.
  • Solid Python skills for writing production-quality scripts and utilities.
  • Strong command of OOP principles and design patterns (Repository, Observer, Factory).
  • Hands-on experience with MariaDB and Linux server administration (Nginx).
  • Experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines.

Nice to have

  • Adobe Commerce (Magento) Certified Developer credential.
  • Experience with Magento B2B module and complex catalog/pricing configurations.
  • Familiarity with PWA Studio or headless Magento architectures.
  • Experience with Docker, infrastructure-as-code, or ERP/PIM integrations.
  • Proficiency in writing unit and integration tests using PHPUnit.
