TL;DR

What you will do

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot high-speed internet, video, and voice networks, including wiring and equipment
  • Perform maintenance and repair on outside plant facilities within assigned geographic service areas
  • Climb poles, dig up and bury cable, and work in utility access holes or controlled environmental vaults (CEV)
  • Locate buried telephone cables and assist with cable splicing and related maintenance
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations during field work
  • Support sales and marketing activities and direct customer-facing work and sales referrals

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • Ability to distinguish colors on facilities
  • Ability to handle extension ladders (up to 75 lbs routine work) and utility access hole covers (up to 150 lbs)
  • Ability to complete service tech boot camp training, including POTS/DSL installation/repair, cable splicing/maintenance, basic transmissions, air pressure, and HSI installations
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office applications)
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record; ability to work outside in all weather conditions and at various hours, including weekends and holidays
