What you will do
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot high-speed internet, video, and voice networks, including wiring and equipment
- Perform maintenance and repair on outside plant facilities within assigned geographic service areas
- Climb poles, dig up and bury cable, and work in utility access holes or controlled environmental vaults (CEV)
- Locate buried telephone cables and assist with cable splicing and related maintenance
- Follow all safety rules and regulations during field work
- Support sales and marketing activities and direct customer-facing work and sales referrals
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
- Ability to distinguish colors on facilities
- Ability to handle extension ladders (up to 75 lbs routine work) and utility access hole covers (up to 150 lbs)
- Ability to complete service tech boot camp training, including POTS/DSL installation/repair, cable splicing/maintenance, basic transmissions, air pressure, and HSI installations
- Basic computer skills (MS Office applications)
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record; ability to work outside in all weather conditions and at various hours, including weekends and holidays
