Rail Advisory Consultant (Rail Advisory): Providing industry-leading advice to governments and private rail companies with an accent on business case development, strategic planning, and revenue forecasting. Focus on managing complex analytical projects, delivering high-quality technical assurance, and tailoring communication for diverse stakeholders.

Location: Must be based in the UK (London, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, or Hemel Hempstead) with a hybrid work requirement (60% in-office/on-site).

What you will do

  • Develop business cases and strategic plans for national and regional rail projects.
  • Conduct commercial analysis, including revenue and cost forecasting.
  • Manage project teams to deliver high-quality technical and commercial outcomes.
  • Review and challenge analytical methodologies to ensure industry best practice.
  • Communicate complex technical analysis to non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with industry bodies, investors, and government clients.

Requirements

  • Must have deep understanding of the GB Rail industry.
  • Extensive experience in rail industry analytical skills (commercial, strategic, or operational).
  • Proven ability to manage project teams and make commercial decisions.
  • Excellent numerical skills and proficiency in analytical software like Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK.

Nice to have

  • Experience with international railway projects.
  • Proficiency in database programming.
  • Ability to coach and develop junior team members.
  • Experience in bid development and business winning.
