Principal Software Engineer (AI): Architecting high-load Search and Recommendation systems for a global delivery platform with an accent on Agentic Engineering and LLM-powered conversational interfaces. Focus on building autonomous operational workflows, self-healing architectures, and removing manual engineering intervention from ML model deployment.

Location: Hybrid - Must be based in Berlin, Germany (office attendance 2 days a week). Relocation support is available.

What you will do

• Lead the transition to Agentic Engineering, implementing AI-driven development and autonomous operational workflows.
• Architect and build production-grade conversational search interfaces using LLMs to move from keyword-matching to intent-driven dialogue.
• Design resilient, self-healing Tier-1 services capable of handling millions of requests per second with sub-100ms latency.
• Develop a discovery platform enabling the deployment of ML models through simple configuration, eliminating manual engineering intervention.
• Act as a force multiplier through pair and mob programming, upskilling the engineering organization in elite coding practices.
• Collaborate with product stakeholders to shape requirements and pitch technical initiatives that drive GMV growth.

Requirements

• Proven history of owning the architectural integrity of global-scale, high-concurrency distributed systems.
• Expertise in building Tier-1 services using Java or Go.
• Hands-on experience with OpenSearch, ElasticSearch, and Vector Search for semantic retrieval.
• Demonstrated experience building systems where LLMs or autonomous agents interact with codebases and infrastructure.
• Ability to lead organizational cultural shifts toward Agentic Engineering and workflow orchestration.
• English proficiency is required for global collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience with chaos engineering and designing closed-loop systems for autonomous infrastructure adjustments.
• Experience building production-grade conversational AI systems.
