TL;DR
Analytics Engineer (AI): Building and maintaining canonical data sources and safety metrics dashboards to enable data-driven decision-making for AI safety systems with an accent on ETL design and stakeholder collaboration. Focus on developing agent-enabled workflows, ensuring high data reliability, and translating complex safety metrics into actionable insights.
Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, CA (3 days in office per week). Relocation assistance provided.
Salary: $210,000 – $260,000 + Equity

What you will do
- Design and maintain canonical datasets that serve as sources of truth for safety metrics.
- Develop data products such as dashboards, reports, and agent-enabled workflows for independent stakeholder analysis.
- Partner with Engineering, Research, and Data Science to design intuitive ways to consume complex safety metrics.
- Ensure analytics and visualizations are accurate and user-friendly using UX principles.
- Advocate for data quality, consistency, and reliability across all analytics products.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a relevant data role within dynamic organizations.
- High proficiency in SQL and extensive experience designing ETL workflows.
- Experience with BI tools such as Tableau and Looker to enable self-serve insights.
- Ability to independently own ambiguous, high-impact business problems.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with researchers, engineers, and executives.
- Must be based in or be able to relocate to San Francisco, CA.
Nice to have
- Experience in trust and safety, integrity, or anti-abuse fields.
- Familiarity with advanced custom visualizations like Streamlit and Plotly Dash.
- Prior experience in NLP, large language models (LLMs), or generative AI.
- Experience building data products for a broad range of stakeholders.
