TL;DR

Salary: $80,000 - $130,000 per year

What you will do

  • Create vast, highly detailed, photorealistic procedural landscapes and digital environments optimized for live virtual production.
  • Promote best practices in real-time environment performance, materials, and lighting specifically for ICVFX and LED volumes.
  • Partner with Production Designers and Art Directors to implement cohesive lighting solutions.
  • Mentor junior artists and set visual quality standards for the department.
  • Document tools and techniques for departmental reference and assist Lead Artists with project scheduling.
  • Collaborate across teams to solve complex challenges and refine VAD workflows.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in real-time environment art creation using Unreal Engine.
  • Expertise in Maya for modeling and UV work.
  • Proficiency in Substance Painter, Substance Designer, and Photoshop.
  • Proven expertise in terrain generation software such as Gaea or World Machine.
  • Strong understanding of texture and material authoring based on PBR principles.
  • Must be based in and work on-site in Los Angeles, USA.

Nice to have

  • Direct experience with live LED volume stages or Virtual Art Department (VAD) pipelines.
  • Background in Visual Effects (VFX), cinematography, or film lighting.
  • Knowledge of shader internals and basic scripting (Python, C#, or Javascript).
  • Experience with AI tool workflows in art production.
  • Animation or Rigging experience.
