3D FX Artist (Houdini)

TL;DR

3D FX Artist (Houdini): Creating and adding visual effects such as dust, rain, and fire for the PAW Patrol animated series with an accent on stylized cartoon animation. Focus on manipulating simulation physics to match artistic styles and generating creative solutions without defaulting to simulations.

Location: Hybrid: Must be an Ontario resident able to travel to the Greater Toronto Area for studio work

Salary: $1200 - $1500 per week

What you will do

• Create and integrate FX such as dust, rain, fire, and water interaction using Houdini and in-house setups.
• Collaborate with the asset team to generate creative solutions that minimize reliance on simulations.
• Deliver assigned tasks on schedule to meet strict production deadlines.
• Communicate technical risks and challenges to the FX Lead.
• Adapt simulation physics to align with the stylized cartoon animation requirements.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in animated television and/or film.
• In-depth knowledge of Houdini.
• Must be based in Ontario, Canada with the ability to commute to the Toronto studio.
• A strong creative portfolio or demo reel.

Nice to have

• Rendering experience in Redshift and compositing skills in Nuke.
• Experience with USD, Solaris, and Redshift Shaders.
