Test Team Lead

TL;DR

Test Team Lead (Quality Engineering): Driving the quality strategy for hirify.global iPlayer and Sounds with an accent on risk-based testing and automation. Focus on building high-quality, seamless experiences for UK audiences through CI/CD integration and strong engineering leadership.

Location: Must be based in or able to commute to Salford, MediaCityUK (Hybrid: minimum 2-3 days a week in the office)

Salary: £65,000–£70,000

What you will do

• Lead and evolve the Quality Engineering strategy across the TV and Devices department.
• Plan team capacity and ensure the right tools and automation frameworks are in place.
• Drive continuous improvement through CI/CD integration, observability, and automated testing.
• Build strong partnerships with engineering, product, and UX stakeholders.
• Mentor and develop quality engineers to foster a strong learning culture.
• Identify and remove low-value testing practices to focus on risk reduction.

Requirements

• Must be able to work from the Salford office 2-3 days per week.
• Strong experience leading software testing and quality activities in complex environments.
• Proven people management experience including hiring, coaching, and career development.
• Experience designing and implementing test automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
• Deep understanding of agile delivery, BDD, and TDD.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with TV platforms such as Virgin Media, Sky, BT, or Freely.
• Experience using data, metrics, and telemetry to inform quality decisions.
• Experience supporting teams through organizational or delivery change.
