What you will do

• Build functional prototypes to help reporters and producers query historical audio for contemporary reporting.
• Develop automated workflows to transform unstructured legacy media into a searchable, AI-indexed library.
• Analyze historical data troves to extract narrative leads and surface evergreen content opportunities.
• Evaluate AI outputs and discovery tools for accuracy and bias to maintain archival integrity.
• Prepare digital newsmagazine and podcast collections for experimentation with machine learning and generative AI.
• Establish data structures and standards for the ethical use of AI with archival news content.

Requirements

• Must be a current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate (within 12 months).
• Experience experimenting with and evaluating generative AI tools and technologies.
• Familiarity with Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques.
• Knowledge of archiving and metadata management best practices.
• Proficiency with code repositories and version control systems, such as GitHub.
• Must be based in the United States.
