Data Operations Manager, Human Data (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY; hybrid policy requires staff to be in an office at least 25% of the time

What you will do

• Own data strategy for research teams working on frontier AI capabilities, including RLHF, safety, tool use, and agentic workflows.
• Build vendor partnerships and scalable frameworks for technical data collection.
• Design operational systems that translate research requirements into high-quality production data pipelines.
• Develop evaluation frameworks and quality standards for training data used in state-of-the-art AI systems.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives, identify operational risks and bottlenecks, and improve research velocity.
• Partner with senior research leaders to align data operations with model development roadmaps.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in operations, consulting, product management, or program management.
• Strong project management, communication, organization, and ambiguity-navigation skills.
• Familiarity with LLMs or strong interest in AI training methodologies.
• Experience with data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, Tableau, or spreadsheets.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or professional experience in a relevant field.
• Ability to work under the location-based hybrid policy in a San Francisco or New York City office.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI/ML data collection, labeling, or annotation operations.
• Knowledge of RLHF, constitutional AI, or human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Experience working with AI research teams, vendors, or external contractors.
• Experience implementing process improvements or quality control systems at scale.
