🦄 Description
Kiagu Studios is looking for a Senior Technical Shader Artist to help build the visual foundation of a dark fantasy anime ARPG. In this role, you will work closely with the Art Director to develop character shaders, material systems, and rendering solutions that support the project's stylized anime aesthetic.

You will establish shader pipelines, optimize rendering performance across multiple platforms, and create artist-friendly workflows that enable efficient content production.

🚀 Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain the character shader pipeline in Unreal Engine 5
• Collaborate with the Art Director on experimental visual solutions
• Create modular and artist-friendly material systems using Material Editor and HLSL
• Develop and maintain PBR-compliant materials for environments, props, architecture, and terrain
• Establish material and shader standards for the project
• Document workflows and best practices
• Profile and optimize shaders for PC and mobile platforms
• Collaborate with engineers on GPU budgets and draw call optimization
• Support artists with shader-related technical issues
• Assist with material instances, texture workflows, and asset integration

📚 Required Skills
• Experience shipping or contributing to an anime-style game
• Strong understanding of anime rendering techniques
• Experience with cel shading, rim lighting, stylized rendering, and PBR workflows
• Advanced Unreal Engine 5 material and shader knowledge
• Strong HLSL skills
• Understanding of physically based rendering principles
• Experience combining PBR workflows with non-photorealistic rendering styles
• Knowledge of texture optimization techniques
• Experience with channel packing, texture atlasing, compression formats, and mipmap strategies
• Experience profiling and optimizing shaders on desktop and mobile platforms
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with artists and engineers

• Experience building scalable shader pipelines
• Experience creating artist-focused technical tools
• Experience working on action RPG projects
• Knowledge of advanced rendering optimization techniques
