Senior Motion Designer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in New York City, San Francisco, or remotely within the United States

Salary: $180,000–$210,000 USD annually, plus equity

Perplexity operates a brand and creative studio producing content for its AI-focused product and communications channels.

What you will do

• Own motion graphics and video production for social channels, from concepting and storyboarding through animation and final delivery.
• Produce a consistent, high-volume stream of polished, on-brand GTM materials.
• Develop 2D and relevant 3D work, including styleframes, animatics, compositing, post-production, and platform optimization.
• Partner with Brand and Growth to translate launches and campaigns into effective social motion content.
• Help define motion principles, systems, and templates that scale across the team.
• Collaborate with the Producer on scoping, scheduling, and timely delivery.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience in motion graphics and animation, with video production as the core craft.
• Strong portfolio of expressive social, campaign, and GTM motion work.
• Deep command of animation fundamentals, including timing, spacing, composition, visual rhythm, and design sensibility.
• Expert proficiency in After Effects and the broader Adobe Creative Suite, with comfort using Figma.
• Ability to work quickly, manage multiple deliverables, and iterate in a high-output environment.
• Ability to judge when motion adds clarity or emotion and when a still image is more effective.

Nice to have

• Experience developing motion principles, systems, or toolkits for team-wide use.
• Comfort across 2D and 3D, compositing, post-production, and social platform optimization.
• Experience building or experimenting with creative technology and AI-assisted motion workflows.
• Graphic design fluency in layout, hierarchy, and typography.
