TL;DR

Staff Software Engineer (Apple): Architecting and scaling critical client-side security and identity applications for iOS and macOS with an accent on Swift, UIKit/SwiftUI, and secure client-server communication. Focus on designing high-performance features, mentoring engineering teams, and driving AI-native development practices within a Zero Trust architecture.

Location: Must be based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid role)

Salary: $160,000 – $240,000 CAD

What you will do

  • Lead the design and implementation of new features for the iOS/macOS client platform.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, and QA teams.
  • Mentor and coach engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.
  • Define engineering best practices and contribute to long-term architectural decisions.
  • Develop maintainable software with comprehensive test coverage and optimized CI/CD strategies.
  • Champion the adoption of AI-native engineering practices to accelerate delivery.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of software development experience with at least 3 years in Swift and UIKit/SwiftUI for iOS/macOS.
  • Deep expertise in Apple frameworks, system architecture, and client-side security.
  • Extensive experience designing secure client-server communication.
  • Strong understanding of multi-threading, concurrency, and performance optimization.
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers and influence technical direction.
  • Must be based in or able to work from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Nice to have

  • Understanding of Identity and Access Management protocols (FIDO, U2F, WebAuthn, SSO, SAML, OAuth).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices.
  • Certifications such as CISSP or Security+.
