Nuclear Forensics Analyst

TL;DR

Nuclear Forensics Analyst: Supporting the Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Nuclear Matters by managing policy, oversight, and exercise development for National Technical Nuclear Forensics (NTNF) operations. Focus on coordinating interagency efforts, developing strategic concepts of operation, and providing expert assessments to senior leadership.

Location: Must be based onsite in Falls Church, VA (no remote or hybrid options)

What you will do

• Support policy, oversight, and guidance for NTNF exercises and evidentiary sample evaluation.
• Coordinate exercise development with Department of War and US Interagency planners.
• Develop and update concepts of operation (CONOPs), plans, and policies for domestic and foreign environments.
• Integrate Department of War equities into coherent US government NTNF capabilities through interagency collaboration.
• Prepare assessments, information papers, and briefings for senior leadership.
• Facilitate coordination across service components, Joint Staff, and Combatant Commands.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI security clearance required.
• Master’s degree.
• 15+ years of direct experience in nuclear forensics, CBRN, EOD, or radiological crisis response.
• Experience in exercise design, coordination, and execution at tactical, operational, and strategic levels.
• Proven ability to communicate technical and non-technical subjects to senior leaders (GO/FO/SES level).
• Experience staffing or advising senior leaders on national security matters.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of joint planning processes like JOPES.
• Familiarity with JTIMS, JTT, and JLLIS systems.
• Experience in US crisis response operations.
• Direct knowledge of NTNF Ground Collection Task Force (GCTF) operations.
