What you will do

• Lead coverage of breaking and developing news stories both editorially and logistically for newsroom and field crews.
• Research, pitch, and implement coverage of community and breaking news.
• Coordinate with website, social media, and streaming teams for multi-platform delivery.
• Monitor news via social media platforms and police scanners.
• Find and book experts and community members to define stories.
• Maintain working story and contact files.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications.
• At least 4 years of experience in a broadcast news environment.
• Minimum 2 years of experience specifically as an Assignment Editor.
• Unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to work any shift in a 24/7 schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
