Staff Engineer (Payments): Building and optimizing a holistic smart payment solution to maximize authorization rates for merchants with an accent on resilient production-grade infrastructure and high-availability systems. Focus on designing payment products from scratch, solving complex production challenges, and establishing the technical direction for the payments initiative.

Location: Hybrid in Tel Aviv, Israel (expected in office at least 3 days per week)

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of new payment products and resilient, production-grade infrastructure.
• Build and enhance payment systems from scratch and integrate them with existing corporate services.
• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to shape features and set technical direction.
• Mentor fellow engineers and lead technical initiatives within the Payments team.
• Diagnose and resolve complex production issues to ensure high availability and stability.
• Work directly with customers to translate business needs into impactful technical payment solutions.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building and maintaining complex software systems.
• 5+ years of backend experience with a strong focus on production-grade systems.
• 2+ years of JavaScript experience.
• Hands-on experience with high availability, reliability, and scalability.
• Professional-level spoken and written English.
• Must be based near the Tel Aviv hub to comply with the hybrid work model.

Nice to have

• Extensive experience with Node.js.
• Background in payments companies or similar financial projects.
• Experience building Enterprise-grade SaaS products.
• Proficiency with MySQL, Redis, or ElasticSearch.
• Experience with Frontend, React, or Mobile development.
