What you will do

• Join the alignment research team to work on high-upside, under-resourced projects.
• Execute concrete experiments to solve complex alignment and control problems.
• Develop and evaluate deep learning models focusing on NLP, vision, or LLMs.
• Collaborate with external visionaries and researchers from top institutions.
• Maintain high autonomy in pursuing research directions that traditional organizations may overlook.

Requirements

• Experience in ML research, alignment research, or both.
• Strong Python skills and experience building, training, or evaluating deep learning models.
• Proficiency in calling AI model APIs via REST or client libraries.
• Ability to break down complex problems into executable experiments independently.
• Must be based in the US for the stated compensation range.
• English: Professional fluency required for technical communication.

• Self-directed research or data science projects that increase human agency.
• Software engineering background and adherence to best practices.
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Kanban, Scrum, XP).
