What you will do

• Review and accurately code Trauma Surgery and E/M cases to maximize reimbursement.
• Maintain a consistent quality goal with an average accuracy rate of 95%.
• Independently research coding scenarios to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Communicate documentation issues and coding trends to leadership.
• Stay current on surgery-specific coding guidelines and maintain professional credentials.

Requirements

• CPC or CCS-P certification is required (CPC-A is not accepted).
• Minimum of 5 years of physician coding experience with recent hands-on production.
• At least 3 years of recent coding experience specifically in Trauma Surgery.
• Proficient knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10.
• Expertise in Medicare and Medicaid billing policies for professional services.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and electronic healthcare record (EHR) systems.

Nice to have

• CPMA certification.
• Experience with Cerner PowerChart.
• Prior auditing experience.
• Associate or Bachelor's degree.
• Experience with Google Workspace.
