What you will do

• Take full ownership of backend features from scoping through to production, managing risks and blockers independently.
• Design and deliver backend services that handle significant payment volumes with a focus on scalability and correctness.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and advocate for maintainable system design and clear service contracts.
• Monitor production impact, identify issues early, and drive incidents to resolution.
• Write high-quality, production-ready code with a strong emphasis on error handling and maintainability.
• Collaborate with the Account Experience team on technical decisions and scoping sessions.

Requirements

• Solid backend engineering experience with the ability to deliver production-ready software with minimal direction.
• Strong grasp of distributed systems fundamentals and production failure modes.
• Proficiency with REST APIs and patterns that ensure reliability and observability.
• Experience owning work end-to-end, including monitoring and deployment strategies.
• Confidence to contribute to architectural discussions and challenge design decisions.
• Must be based in Poland, Hungary, Portugal, Romania, or South Africa.

• Experience in payments, fintech, or infrastructure contexts.
