Salary: $270,000–$300,000

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of ~15 engineers across 3 data engineering teams, fostering a culture of ownership and craft.
• Own the architecture and evolution of the GCP data platform, including BigQuery, Cloud Composer/Airflow, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub.
• Design and maintain scalable pipelines for ingesting and transforming diverse alternative datasets.
• Drive infrastructure best practices, including cost optimization, observability, incident response, and disaster recovery.
• Partner with data operations, product, and commercial teams to translate business priorities into a technical roadmap.

Requirements

• 10+ years in data engineering with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing managers and teams.
• Proven experience building and operating large-scale data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform.
• Deep expertise in BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, GCS, and Cloud Composer.
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and dbt for scalable transformation layer design.
• Practical experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and/or Pulumi.
• Must reside in one of the approved US states or Washington DC.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, alternative data, or financial data environments.
• Experience supporting data science or ML teams with feature engineering infrastructure.
• Familiarity with data mesh or data-as-a-product organizational models.
• Knowledge of data licensing and provenance tracking.
