TL;DR

Software Engineer II (Java): Transforming the Core Banking Platform by leveraging GCP and microservices-based architecture with an accent on engineering standards and technical excellence. Focus on designing secure, resilient platforms and mentoring team members to adopt best practices.

Location: Hybrid (Must spend at least two days per week, or 40% of time, at one of the Manchester sites)

Salary: £47,120 - £58,900

What you will do

  • Contribute to the codebase and collaborate with architects to design scalable software solutions.
  • Propose and establish engineering standards to drive technical excellence.
  • Mentor and coach team members to ensure the adoption of best practices.
  • Translate business domain needs into technical stories and tasks.
  • Ensure non-functional requirements like security and performance are integrated into the design.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of deep knowledge in Java and back-end development.
  • Expertise in Object-Oriented Design and software fundamentals (threading, memory management, clean code).
  • Ability to drive technical delivery and promote agile methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills for both technical and business conversations.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and test automation.
  • Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
  • Knowledge of Spring Boot, REST protocol, and Apache Kafka.
  • Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
