Senior Data Engineer (Fintech)

TL;DR

Senior Data Engineer (GCP/SQL): Designing and developing data product features and pipelines for the Prudential & Analytics lab with an accent on regulatory change and engineering excellence. Focus on migrating on-premises platforms to GCP, building robust APIs, and mentoring junior engineers to ensure system reliability.

Location: Hybrid (Leeds or Edinburgh). Spending at least two days per week (40%) at one of the office sites

Salary: £72,702 - £80,780

What you will do

• Design, develop, and test Data Product features on the product roadmap to meet customer needs.
• Build modern data pipelines and APIs to power current and future analytics and reporting.
• Lead and mentor other data engineers, setting the standard for engineering excellence.
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, Risk Scientists, and Business SMEs.
• Enhance data processes that underpin critical regulatory and prudential change.

Requirements

• Experience with cloud technology for data solutions, specifically Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Proficiency in DBT, SQL, Python, Java, or SAS and other open source analytics technologies.
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into production-ready technical solutions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for conveying technical subject matter to non-technical people.
• Must be based in or able to work from the Leeds or Edinburgh offices under a hybrid model.

Nice to have

• Experience with regulatory change, including Credit Risk, capital and impairment processes.
• Knowledge of Commercial Banking Application Landscape and associated data models.
• Experience with line management.
