What you will do

• Design and develop networking features in C/C++ and Python for the Linux-based EOS.
• Collaborate with product management and customers to define functional requirements and technical designs.
• Own the full development lifecycle, including writing specifications, design documents, and test plans.
• Create and maintain automated tests to ensure robust, high-quality code.
• Provide technical leadership, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior engineers.
• Debug and resolve complex networking issues found in customer environments.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering (BSc, MS, or PhD).
• Strong software development experience in C/C++ and/or Python.
• Proven experience with software development in a UNIX/Linux environment.
• Australian work rights: Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or legal entitlement to work in Australia.
• Strong interest in computer networking technologies and software engineering principles.

Nice to have

• Deep understanding of L2/L3 networking protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, Spanning Tree, LACP).
• Experience in the design and development of ethernet bridging or routing software.
• Background in enterprise or service provider class Ethernet switch/router system software.
• Familiarity with distributed systems infrastructure such as messaging, signalling, and databases.
