What you will do

• Build internal platform tooling and APIs that product engineers use to deploy, scale, and observe services.
• Own and evolve the Kubernetes platform, ArgoCD deployment pipeline, and Terraform IaC.
• Improve platform observability to provide self-service answers for service performance and deployment failures.
• Drive the migration from Cloud Run to Kubernetes, collaborating with product teams to remove blockers.
• Design self-service workflows to reduce the interrupt load and manual support tickets for the Compute team.
• Define the interfaces and abstractions the platform exposes to ensure deployment workflows are easy to use correctly.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience shipping production services and debugging distributed systems.
• Practical experience operating services on Kubernetes, including RBAC policies and scheduling debugging.
• Experience modifying production Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) in a team context.
• Product instinct and sensibility for developer experience (DX), focusing on actionable error states and clear APIs.
• Must be based in or able to work in a hybrid setup in San Francisco.

Nice to have

• Deep knowledge of K8s internals, such as admission controllers and custom operators.
• Production experience with ArgoCD or other GitOps tools.
• Experience with GKE or managed Kubernetes at scale.
• Proficiency in Ruby or Rails.
• Experience working within regulated or high-trust environments.
