What you will do
- Monitor construction activities for adherence to established Best Management Practices along the Texas/Mexico Border.
- Implement construction monitoring protocols, wildlife habitat assessments, stream assessments, and vegetation surveys.
- Collect, interpret, and analyze field data to summarize findings for technical reports.
- Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies to obtain data and manage environmental permitting.
- Recommend project alternatives or procedural changes to minimize environmental impacts.
- Participate in briefings, seminars, and public meetings regarding environmental matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in biology, natural resources, wildlife management, botany, wildlife biology, or ecology.
- Minimum two years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and some knowledge of statistics and database management.
- Experience with GIS platforms, specifically ArcGIS or similar tools.
- Strong technical writing, editing, and professional communication skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in challenging remote field terrains.
Nice to have
- Master of Science degree.
- Demonstrated field experience in sensitive species surveys, avian surveys, and wetland delineations.
- Experience completing environmental permitting projects.
- Knowledge of rare, threatened, or endangered plants and animals in the Southwestern Region.
