What you will do

• Design, build, and operate ML systems for sponsored product ranking, audience segmentation, and campaign optimization.
• Translate business and product requirements into scalable, reliable, and maintainable ML solutions.
• Develop end-to-end ML pipelines for feature engineering, training, evaluation, and deployment.
• Deploy and monitor models using a cloud-based stack to ensure observability and reliability.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and commercial stakeholders to communicate technical decisions.
• Contribute to ML engineering standards and best practices within the Data & AI department.

Requirements

• Several years of experience as an ML Engineer or Data Scientist with strong software engineering skills.
• Proven track record of building and operating production-grade ML systems and pipelines.
• Experience with recommender systems, ranking, or retail media.
• Deep understanding of ML failure modes, including data leakage, feedback loops, and distribution shifts.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity in an early-stage product environment and take ownership.
• Location: Must be based in Cologne, Germany
