TL;DR
Lecturer in Music (Ethnomusicology): Developing and delivering innovative learning resources across the music curriculum with an accent on ethnomusicology and music analysis. Focus on creating distance learning materials, evaluating MA-level projects, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration within the School of Arts & Humanities.
Location: Hybrid; must be contractually aligned to the Milton Keynes office with attendance required at least once per month
Salary: £37,337.03 per annum (actual)

What you will do
- Develop, plan, and update high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate music curricula.
- Create distance learning materials tailored to the university's specific teaching methodologies.
- Evaluate MA-level project proposals, provide feedback, and set assessments and examinations.
- Organize and chair seminars on musicology, ethnomusicology, and popular music studies.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the School of Arts & Humanities in an interdisciplinary environment.
- Engage in academic leadership and administrative tasks as required by the Head of School.
Requirements
- PhD in ethnomusicology or a closely related subject (completed or close to completion).
- Honours degree in music or a closely related subject.
- Ability to evaluate MA dissertation proposals incorporating ethnographic and practice-led elements.
- Proficiency in music notation and transcription within a global context.
- Demonstrated teaching ability and readiness to prepare distance learning materials.
- Ability to attend the Milton Keynes office in response to business needs.
Nice to have
- Experience producing online or distance learning materials.
- Higher Education professional accreditation or equivalent qualification.
- Teaching experience in Western music theory, music technology, or historical musicology.
