What you will do
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams to assess legacy data structures, volumes, and constraints.
- Design and own the migration solution, proposing viable paths to overcome technical blockers.
- Explore unfamiliar legacy systems to map source data to the data model.
- Work with engineers on data extraction via APIs, databases, and flat files, and define transformation logic.
- Plan and execute cutover strategies, including delta migrations, downtime planning, and rollback plans.
- Produce detailed documentation for mapping specs, transformation rules, and decision logs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
- 2-5+ years of experience in data migration, ETL, or similar implementation roles.
- Hands-on experience with the full migration lifecycle: discovery, extraction, transformation, loading, and validation.
- Proven ability to work with poorly documented legacy systems and interpret complex schemas.
- Must be based in Canada.
- Strong communication skills for managing client relationships and technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Strong proficiency in SQL for writing complex queries and debugging data issues.
- Experience with data cleansing and quality validation techniques.
- Ability to create comprehensive test plans for pre- and post-migration reconciliation.
