TL;DR

What you will do
- Define and drive the overall technical vision and architecture, ensuring alignment with creative goals.
- Own technical quality, including performance, scalability, stability, and maintainability.
- Lead and mentor technical leadership teams, including Technical Leads and Principal Engineers.
- Oversee the evolution of core systems, tools, pipelines, and Unreal Engine technology.
- Partner with Production and Leadership to mitigate technical risks and ensure predictable delivery.
- Establish and enforce engineering best practices and coding standards across the studio.
Requirements
- Must be a current resident of Canada or willing to relocate to Ontario, Canada.
- Minimum 8 years of programming experience in the video game industry.
- Proven experience in a senior technical leadership role (Technical Director, CTO, or Lead Programmer).
- At least 1 shipped title in a leadership capacity.
- Expert-level proficiency in C++ and professional experience with Unreal Engine (UE4/UE5).
- Deep experience architecting complex systems for PC and console games.
Nice to have
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience in small-to-mid-sized independent studios.
- Knowledge of AI trends and tools to enhance team growth.
- Familiarity with online multiplayer FPS architecture and networking models.
