TL;DR

Team Lead Data Engineering (iGaming): Leading and mentoring a data engineering squad to build and operate mission-critical data platforms and pipelines with an accent on scalability, performance, and data quality. Location: Must be based in or relocate to St. Julian's, Malta

What you will do

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a squad of data engineers to foster a high-performance culture.
  • Oversee the end-to-end data supply chain, including design and operation of batch and real-time pipelines.
  • Ensure peak data quality, accuracy, and consistency across the platform for reporting and analytics.
  • Translate complex business requirements into robust technical specifications and delivery plans.
  • Drive automation, optimization, and innovation to maximize performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Align data engineering practices with group standards for security and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT, Business, or a quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of experience leading large-scale data projects and engineering teams.
  • Strong expertise in Big Data technologies including AWS Redshift, S3, EMR, Airflow, Kafka, Spark, Iceberg, and Hudi.
  • Proficiency in ETL/ELT engineering, analytics technologies like OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, and coding in Java, Scala, or Python.
  • Experience with modern cloud-first environments including Linux, containers, and Kubernetes.
  • Must be willing to relocate to Malta.
