Senior Fullstack Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Austin, Madison, or San Francisco (USA)

Salary: $145,000–$217,000

What you will do

• Design and implement backend services for real-time voice conversations, focusing on latency, reliability, and observability.
• Build integrations for telephony, WebRTC, real-time audio processing, and external AI/speech services.
• Ship end-to-end product features across backend systems and user-facing web experiences.
• Improve platform reliability through monitoring, tracing, autoscaling, and failure recovery.
• Address real-time interaction challenges such as turn-taking, interruptions, and human handoff.
• Collaborate with product, design, and ML teams to deliver polished voice experiences.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience building production software with a significant backend focus.
• Experience with real-time or event-driven systems such as WebRTC, SIP, or streaming APIs.
• Proficiency in Python and asynchronous architectures.
• Must be located in or able to work from Austin, Madison, or San Francisco to support the hybrid work model.

Nice to have

• Experience with telephony stacks, media servers, or ASR/TTS integrations.
• Familiarity with LLMs, speech models, or conversational AI production infrastructure.
• Experience shipping both backend and frontend user experiences.
• Expertise in diagnosing performance issues under real-time constraints.
