Senior Backend Engineer (Cryptography)

TL;DR

Senior Backend Engineer (Golang/Cryptography): Developing and advancing security, scalability, and enterprise readiness for HashiCorp Vault with an accent on cryptographic workflows, PKI, and HSM functionality. Location: Markham, Ontario, Canada. Must have the ability to work in Canada without sponsorship.

What you will do

• Lead large-scale initiatives end-to-end, from architecture and design through implementation and issue resolution.
• Drive engineering projects delivering cryptographic workflows, including PKI and HSM related functionality.
• Act as a technical authority in Golang, reviewing code for design quality and performance.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, customers, and external partners.
• Mentor and develop engineers, promoting strong engineering practices and knowledge sharing.
• Support production reliability, including participation in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional engineering experience.
• Professional experience developing with modern programming languages, with a strong interest or expertise in Golang.
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP) with a focus on scalability and security.
• Ability to work in Canada without sponsorship.
• Not eligible for employment if a Foreign National from US sanctioned countries (Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, etc.) on a work permit.

Nice to have

• Experience designing or operating cryptographic systems (PKI, HSMs, TLS, key management, IAM).
• Expertise in Go development.
• Experience using HashiCorp products (Terraform, Packer, Waypoint, Nomad, Vault, Boundary, Consul).
• Bachelor's Degree.
