People Operations Generalist (HR Ops): Managing the employee lifecycle and operational touch-points for hirify.global's team with an accent on Japan-specific compliance and APAC coverage. Focus on operationalizing onboarding and offboarding, managing HRIS transactions in Workday, and ensuring regulatory alignment in the Japanese market.

Location: Hybrid in Tokyo, Japan (Anchor Days: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays)

What you will do

  • Own end-to-end People Operations execution globally, specifically for the APAC timezone.
  • Coordinate onboarding and off-boarding processes, including HRIS setup and background checks.
  • Operationalize Japan-specific compliance, social insurance administration, and labor audits.
  • Manage day-to-day HRIS transactions and resolve employee requests via the ticketing system.
  • Maintain compliance standards (SOC2) and manage employee files and audits.
  • Partner with Recruiting, Legal, Finance, and IT to ensure seamless operational execution.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in People/HR Operations within a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in both Japanese and English (essential for documentation and communication).
  • Proficiency with Workday (HCM) and other people management tools.
  • Must hold or obtain a Class 2 Occupational Health Manager License within one year.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive data with discretion.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across different functions and time zones.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Japan-specific HR rhythms (social insurance, leave admin).
  • Experience supporting a global workforce and contingent workers.
