What you will do

• Lead and develop a team of controls and vision engineers, providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development.
• Manage end-to-end project lifecycles for large automation projects from specification and procurement through launch.
• Oversee procurement of automation equipment, including RFQs and vendor technical reviews.
• Collaborate with product and plant engineering to align automation solutions with process requirements.
• Diagnose manufacturing process deficiencies to improve uptime, throughput, and quality.
• Ensure automation systems comply with GM and regulatory safety standards, including g-Risk assessments.

Requirements

• 10–15 years of experience in manufacturing engineering and automation.
• 5+ years of experience leading large-scale manufacturing automation projects.
• Proven people leadership experience managing technical staff and engineers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Must be based in or able to work on-site in Warren, Michigan, including time on the plant floor.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% (domestic and international) based on program needs.

Nice to have

• Hands-on expertise with Fanuc robots, Matrox/Cognex vision systems, and Rockwell/Siemens PLCs/HMIs.
• Knowledge of GM-specific controls standards (e.g., GCCH, GCCS, GPM&C).
• Experience managing greenfield and brownfield projects in vehicle manufacturing areas.
