TL;DR
Lead Software Engineer (Python, LLM): Building and optimizing AI-powered chat and embedded experiences for the Ask platform with an accent on scalable backend architecture, LLM integration, and high-performance data pipelines. Focus on driving complex technical initiatives end-to-end, mentoring engineering teams, and ensuring system reliability in a fast-paced production environment.
Location: Must be based in or able to work from Irving, TX or Stamford, CT (Hybrid)
Salary: $116,000 – $170,000

What you will do
- Drive technical initiatives end-to-end from design through delivery and iteration.
- Own architecture decisions for complex systems focusing on scalability and maintainability.
- Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to align on technical direction.
- Mentor fellow engineers through code reviews and design discussions.
- Lead solutioning sessions and proactively manage technical risks and trade-offs.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for complex engineering decisions.
Requirements
- Expert-level proficiency in Python including FastAPI and asynchronous programming.
- Experience with AWS cloud technologies and SageMaker Pipelines.
- Strong background in backend services, API development, and scaling.
- Proficiency with SQL, PostgreSQL, and data formats like Parquet and JSON.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Nice to have
- Experience with LangGraph or LangChain and RAG systems.
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and IaC (Terraform).
- Familiarity with load testing frameworks like Locust or JMeter.
- Experience with search engine indexing and retrieval technologies.
