What you will do

• Produce impactful enterprise stories and daily news reports for print and digital platforms.
• Build and maintain a robust network of sources.
• Write on deadline while maintaining speed and accuracy.
• Pitch regular story ideas to the editorial team.
• Collaborate with editors and team members across departments.
• Contribute to weekend and holiday reporting shifts as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum of three years of journalism experience and a relevant degree or equivalent.
• Must be based in San Diego, California and possess a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
• Strong command of narrative and explanatory writing forms.
• Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to mine human sources, documents, and data for investigative reporting.
• Must be available for shift work, including hours outside of normal business hours.
