Software Engineer (Windows Optimization)

Location: Must reside in one of the following states: Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Washington. Collaboration with teammates centered in the Pacific time zone will be essential.

Salary: $85,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Design secure, reliable, scalable, and sustainable software components and services.
• Develop and test Windows features, applying engineering best practices and quality standards.
• Release software changes using established engineering processes, including applying AI/Copilot.
• Analyze product and usage data to validate hypotheses and measure outcomes.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, researchers, and partner teams to translate customer needs into effective experiences across Windows.
• Contribute to an inclusive team environment by welcoming diverse perspectives and sharing knowledge.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to C++, C#, and React.
• Demonstrated ability to shipping Windows features software is required.
• 2+ years’ experience with front-end frameworks; experience with React required.
• Understanding of back-end development, preferably using C# or other modern server-side technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to ship high-quality software on time; awareness of the Windows release process preferred.
• Experience applying AI/Copilot in daily SWE tasks, from design, code (writing, and reviewing), debug and test.
