Software Engineer (SDN)

TL;DR

Software Engineer (SDN): Developing a world-class Software-Defined Networking solution for large-scale enterprise deployments with an accent on resilience, high performance, and network security. Focus on building distributed systems, implementing application-centric security policies, and optimizing overlay VLANs and VPCs.

Location: Hybrid/Remote (US, Canada, Mexico). Candidates residing within 50 miles of a hirify.global office (including Vancouver, San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, etc.) are required to work onsite a minimum of three days per week.

Salary: CAD $128,800 – $193,200 per annum

What you will do

• Develop distributed, resilient, and high-performant SDN solutions for large-scale enterprise deployments.
• Create functional specifications, design documents, and test plans while maintaining high code hygiene.
• Collaborate with a geo-distributed team to own and deliver projects end-to-end.
• Mentor junior team members and lead technical knowledge-sharing events such as tech talks and boot camps.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 3+ years of software development experience with Python, Golang, Java, C, or C++.
• Strong fundamentals of Operating Systems, Multi-threaded/Multi-Process Applications, IPC, and RPC.
• Professional experience developing software for networking or security products with a strong understanding of Linux.
• Deep knowledge of the TCP-IP Suite (Ethernet, VLAN, IP, ICMP, TCP, UDP, DNS).
• Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, and Protobuf.
