Android Engineer (Fintech)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid attendance at the London office 2–3 days a week. Working from abroad is available for up to 120 days per year, subject to having the right to work in the chosen country.

What you will do

• Collaborate with native mobile engineers to design, build, and evolve the Android platform.
• Migrate the mobile app from React Native to native Android using Kotlin and robust architectural foundations.
• Define native development best practices and support cross-training within the mobile engineering community.
• Improve app performance, reliability, robustness, and overall quality by addressing bottlenecks, technical debt, and defects.
• Work with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver features using native Android capabilities.

Requirements

• Production experience building and shipping Android applications in Kotlin, including publishing to the Google Play Store.
• Strong knowledge of Android frameworks, platform APIs, and native development best practices.
• Experience with modern, high-engagement mobile applications focused on performance, reliability, and user experience.
• Track record of improving engineering standards through thoughtful design, testing, and maintainable code.
• Ability to attend the London office 2–3 days per week and hold the right to work in any country used for overseas work.

Nice to have

• Experience applying mobile security best practices in production Android applications.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, including mobile build, test, and release automation.
• Experience collaborating with iOS Swift and/or React Native engineers.
