Chief Auditor (Crypto)

What you will do

• Design and implement a comprehensive, risk-based global internal audit program aligned with IIA International standards.
• Refresh the audit program as regulatory obligations, business risks, and organizational needs evolve.
• Audit capital, supervisory controls, AML/KYC/KYT, operational and capital adequacy obligations, and digital asset custody operations.
• Coordinate regulatory audit requirements with external auditors and maintain examination readiness.
• Present audit findings, plans, and emerging risks to the Board, relevant committees, and senior management.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive internal audit experience, including substantial experience with regulated financial institutions and trading or market infrastructure entities.
• Hands-on experience auditing digital asset custody, crypto trading platforms, or blockchain-based financial infrastructure.
• Deep knowledge of financial institution safety-and-soundness standards, trust and fiduciary obligations, and regulatory examinations.
• Experience coordinating annual regulatory audits with external auditors for a licensed trading entity.
• Active CIA or CPA certification; CISA certification is also required or must be obtained within 12 months.
• Bachelor’s degree required; an MBA, J.D., or master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is strongly preferred.

• Big Four experience in fintech.
• Experience in a high-growth technology company or startup environment.
• Familiarity with MiCA, FCA, MAS, or equivalent digital asset regimes.
• Experience with Chainalysis, Elliptic, TRM Labs, or similar blockchain analytics tools.
• Knowledge of proof-of-reserves methodologies, stablecoins, tokenized assets, or DeFi audit considerations.
