Lead Laboratory Technician (Chemistry)

What you will do

• Perform quality-control testing of monomer mixtures, incoming raw materials, and samples supporting R&D product development.
• Prepare and analyze samples using HPLC, GC, FTIR, DSC, UV-Vis, TMA, TGA, XRF, goniometer, and other laboratory instruments.
• Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments according to written procedures.
• Record and communicate analytical results, prepare reports, and maintain quality records, logbooks, inventories, and audit documentation.
• Work with scientists to develop test methods and write standard operating procedures for new equipment and methods.
• Prioritize multiple projects, purchase laboratory supplies, operate laser scanning equipment, and support ISO compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or an equivalent qualification.
• Proven wet chemistry skills and a history of safe laboratory practices.
• Hands-on experience with HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, XRF, and DSC, plus strong instrumental software skills.
• Strong computer skills, including spreadsheet formatting, formulas, data analysis, and Microsoft software.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills for summarizing data, writing reports, and communicating results quickly.
• Weekend work is required, with availability for holidays and overtime as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with MATLAB, equipment troubleshooting, laboratory test-method writing, and Copilot or similar AI chatbots.
• Leadership experience in a dynamic laboratory environment.
