Location: Hybrid in Krakow, Poland or Lisbon, Portugal - must attend local office for part of the week

Salary: PLN 304,000–456,000 annualized base (Poland)

What you will do

• Maintain core monolith Rails applications handling billions of requests daily.
• Keep enterprise Ruby systems updated to latest versions.
• Modernize legacy systems and implement standardized practices for team productivity.
• Support deployed services for stability and reliability.
• Contribute to open source Ruby/Rails projects and community.
• Mentor juniors, pair with peers, and evolve team workflows.

Requirements

• 6+ years developing server-side apps in Ruby or similar backend languages
• Demonstrated experience building/operating distributed systems at scale
• Expertise in relational databases (MySQL, Postgres)
• Experience provisioning/deploying services on cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Strong knowledge of server-side/web architecture and design patterns
• Excellent communication skills and desire to learn/share

Nice to have

• Significant Ruby web app development experience
• C programming experience
• AWS proficiency
• Performance testing, capacity planning, cost optimization for large-scale systems
• Open source contributor/maintainer
