Backend Engineer (Healthtech)

TL;DR

Backend Engineer (Node.js/TypeScript): Developing scalable and reliable core functionality for customer-facing and internal healthcare products with an accent on extensible platforms and API design. Location: Hybrid (London) — Must be based in London and present in the office 3 days per week

What you will do

• Develop core functionality for customer-facing and internal products, systems, and data platforms.
• Build extensible architectures to enable the rapid launch of new products and business lines.
• Create and maintain integrations with third-party systems.
• Develop APIs powering the web and mobile platforms for the product portfolio.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, QAs, and product managers to drive end-to-end impact.
• Own the full development cycle, from scoping and architectural design to production deployment and operations.

Requirements

• Experience building web backends in Node.js/TypeScript (or a strong willingness to learn).
• Familiarity with scalable cloud architectures, design patterns, and industry best practices.
• Practical experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).
• Experience with relational databases, search engines, and data management practices.
• Proficiency with TDD and writing testable code (unit, integration, and performance testing).
• Location: Must be based in London to support a hybrid work model (3 days/week in office).

Nice to have

• Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience building highly reliable cloud systems supporting millions of users 24/7.
• Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Experience working within cross-functional teams.
