Software Engineer (Frostbite Character Physics)

TL;DR

Software Engineer (Frostbite Character Physics): Deliver Character Physics systems including Ragdoll Physics and Character Simulation for EA's game engine with an accent on performant multithreaded real-time code and end-to-end execution. Focus on developing sustainable systems, release planning, technical documentation, and supporting game team integration.

Location: Hybrid (3 days per week expected in the office)

What you will do

• Develop and debug performant, sustainable Character Physics systems end-to-end, including validation and partner adoption.
• Contribute to release cycle planning through scoping, estimation, prioritization, and risk identification.
• Produce technical briefs and documentation to enhance visibility and collaboration.
• Support game team partners' Content Creators and Software Engineers for smooth technology integration.

Requirements

• High proficiency in C++ with expertise in performant, memory-efficient, multithreaded code for real-time systems
• Experience with industry engineering practices: unit testing, continuous integration, continuous delivery
• Experience in collaborative team environments

Nice to have

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or related field
• 7+ years professional experience on large-scale C++ or engine-level systems
• Familiarity with character animation, physics-based gameplay, authoring workflows
• Experience with version control: Perforce, Git, Bitbucket
